  • 45 medium potatoes, thinly sliced

  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 1/4 cup milk (optional, for creaminess)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Thinly slice 4–5 medium potatoes; chop 1 medium onion and mince 2 cloves garlic.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium; add 1 lb ground beef, break up, and cook 5–7 minutes until browned; drain excess fat if needed.
  4. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook 3–4 minutes until onion is softened and translucent.
  5. Spread the browned beef mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  6. Arrange the sliced potatoes in a single layer over the beef and season with salt, pepper, 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning, and 1/2 teaspoon paprika.
  7. Sprinkle 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar and 1/2 cup grated Parmesan evenly over the potatoes.
  8. Pour 1/2 cup beef broth or water around the edges of the dish and add 1/4 cup milk if using.
  9. Cover the casserole with foil and bake 30 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes until potatoes are fork-tender and the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  11. Let the casserole rest about 5 minutes to set.
  12. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
